The 90's

One thing that we cannot forget about the 90's are the wonderful TV shows. Growing up in the 90's wouldn't have been the same without the shows and I kind of feel bad for the kids today because the variety and creativity is not there today. Technology has taken over the world and though I think it's cool, it's ruining kids childhoods (as I write this from my iPad). I remember I would make up games and spend all day and night outside. My mom would literally have to drag me inside because we were having too much fun!
One thing that annoys me is that kids shows today are being more inappropriate and are focused on relationships. I miss tv shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Full House, Rugrats, The Big Comfy Couch, Boy Meets World, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, The Powder Puff Girls, The Power Rangers, Pokemon, Hey Arnold, Dexters Laboratory and The Magic School Bus. I know I forgot a lot of other great shows but just think, how many great shows are there on tv today?
I miss being able to pretend I was from Rocket Power when I rode my bike or skateboard or rewinding VHS tapes to start the movie from the beginning. I miss Nick @ Nite and all of the shows that would have me laughing for hours. I miss the childish hand games that we would play with our friends and the fact that we would actually ring our friends door bell to ask if they could come outside and play. But the things I miss the most are the imaginations we had and the fact that nothing else mattered because we were a couple of friends just having fun. School didn't suck because you actually liked your teacher and the people in your class.
I miss the book bags with wheels and the trapper keepers with all of my books and homework. I miss the light up sneakers and Velcro shoes that our parents bought us and we wore them with pride! I miss the days when the whole neighborhood would be outside and the parents would talk while the kids ran around. I miss playing outside until the street lights came on and not fearing anything because nothing bad could happen. I miss the fact that I actually knew my neighbors and no one judged each other. I miss when money didn't matter because we didn't need the new $200 phone or fast car or whatever was new and cool and only lasted 2 weeks.
I miss going on adventures with my friends and making up stories and having relay races with our bikes and scooters. I miss having neighborhood sports tournaments and the pride of beating other neighborhoods. I miss when everyone would run into one house because it started raining and we would watch a movie or make up games. I miss when people actually talked to each other face to face and talked about TV shows and their secret clubs.

Most importantly, I miss the fact that we always trusted each other and never gossiped or talked bad about other people. I miss when kids actually had manners and respected and feared their elders. It never crossed our minds that the wonderful era would ever come to an end. We always wanted to grow up because we pictured our lives to always be like that except we could drive and buy things. It saddens me that my kids will grow up in a world where technology runs everything and I'm scared to see what else it does to us. When I look back, I regret taking everything for granted but nothing makes me happier than the fact that I am a 90's kid and I had the chance to experience all of those wonderful things.

Sophia Bush

I can honestly say that Sophia Bush is my idol, role model, and favorite person in the world! I am not saying that because she is famous, and of course Brooke Davis :), but because she actually listens and gives back to not only her fans but the entire world. A person like that is truly hard to find, especially in Hollywood today. She is using her wealth and fame for not the better but the best. Sophia has informed many people of what was actually going on in the Gulf during the oil spill. She told her fans that she wasn't allowed to go on the beach, help clean up, or even find out where to be trained to clean up! She also almost got arrested trying to help! At that point most people would turn around and give up but Sophia didn't.
She helped create an album called Gasoline Rainbows and 100% of its proceeds went to Global Green. On Crowdrise she is currently involved in 8 projects and has raised over $92,000. Her projects include: Team Nature Conservancy SF, Run for the Gulf, Global Green Gulf Relief, Maa Sai Villagers Need a Truck, Friends for NWHS, Mediation for At-Risk Kids, Art of Elysium Rocks!!, and Maa Sai Wilderness Conservation Fund. That is unbelievable and not all of it!

She actually cares and listens to her
fans on twitter. She also admitted that she reads all of her fans tweets to her, and I have proof because she wished me Happy Birthday! I find it disappointing that she only has 378,871 followers because she deserves to have 100 million followers! Sophia is only 29 years old and still has the rest of her life ahead of her. She gives me hope, faith and trust in humanity and reminds me that we will be okay but we all have to work together to save the planet.
She also reminds me that there are still good people in this world and makes me want to help humanity and the world every single day. I've already started a positive body image campaign to help young kids learn to love themselves. The response from the kids about suicide were frightening but in the end they thanked us for helping them and reassuring them that their lives are too important and valuable to give up. I hope to expand the campaign but I haven't gotten a lot of support for it :(. I'm still trying everything I can but it makes me proud to know that Sophia has done so much and continues to do everything she can!
My biggest dream and wish in the world is to meet Sophia Bush because she is on the right path to helping humanity, saving many lives and I want to be right next to her helping in every possible way that I can. The things she has already accomplished is unbelievable and I cannot wait to see what she does next! If you are reading this Sophia, I just want you to know that I am soo proud and appreciative of everything that you do! Good luck on all of your future projects and I will always be here to support you! Love you!

Zac Efron

Where do I begin? Zac Efron had shocked us all with his stunning good looks when he starred in High School Musical. Although, some of us can remember him from the TV show 'Summerland' starring Jesse McCartney, Lori Loughlin, and Kay Panabaker. He is now 23 years old and continues to surprise us with every character he plays from Richard Samuels in Me and Orson Welles to Mike O'Donnell in 17 Again and to Charlie in Charlie St. Cloud. As fans, we have seen Efron grow from a teen to a handsome young man and have followed him in all of his successes. We can always see him smiling, surfing, skateboarding, working out and doing everything that a happy kid would do. He doesn't seem stuck up, spoiled or bigheaded and that's why all of his loyal fans look up to him and appreciate everything that he does. He has a lot on his plate now and for many years to come but we all know that whatever he does will be great. Zac Efron will always be one of the hottest guys in Hollywood and that just adds to the list of reasons why we love him! Thanks for everything you do and good luck on all of your projects Zac!

Jennifer Aniston

There is no better way to start of this blog then to post about Jennifer Aniston. I can honestly say that she is one of my most favorite actresses, idol and role model. She is young, beautiful and still in the Hollywood spotlight now and for many years to come. We can all remember her from the hit sitcom Friends where she played Rachel Green, a waitress who was in and out of love with Ross Geller and made us laugh with her "Friends". It was a sad day when the show ended but Aniston came back greater than ever when she started to focus on movies.
We can remember her in her remarkable and unforgettable roles in: Office Space, The Break-Up, Marley and Me, He's Just Not That Into You, Just Go With It and her new movie Horrible Bosses. Whatever movie or show she is in, we instantly recognize her and fall in love with her acting all over again. When I see her on TV or in a video, she seems like a regular person who is always smiling, happy and down to earth. She has a contagious smile and I know there is more fame and movies to come from Aniston and I cannot wait to see it. I wish her the best and nothing but success and happiness in the future!

Brothers and Sisters

I was also recently devastated to find out that this show was cancelled. Brothers and Sisters is a family based drama that revolves around the Walker family who discovers shocking surprises after their father passes away. This show can literally make you laugh, cry and be angered but in the end you will not want to stop. The kids, Sarah, Kitty, Tommy, Kevin and Justin, have grown to become wonderful adults but they still struggle with everyday life and always count on each other, especially their mom, to be there to help. I fell in love with the actors themselves because they made you feel as if you were apart of the family. Kitty (Calista Flockhart) and Robert (Rob Lowe) had great on screen chemistry and it broke my heart to see them fight and struggle with all of their problems. I could see myself in Justin (Dave Annable) because he did an awesome job of playing the youngest kid and trying to make everyone happy and understand that he is an adult too. Many adults who are bending over backwards to save their family could relate to Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) and Tommy (Balthazar Getty) because they did a great job of portraying families who are fighting a hard battle,  but at the end of the day will do anything for their family. I am proud of Kevin (Matthew Rhys) who  reached out to the struggling LGBT community and made me start to understand and feel for what they are going through. Well I just want you to know that their will always be someone out there who cares, especially me. I feel bad for Saul (Ron Rifkin) because he does anything and everything for his sisters family (the Walkers) but he never really gets the reward and praise he deserves. Holly (Patricia Wettig) and Rebecca (Emily VanCamp) have the struggling single mother-daughter relationship that some of us can relate. Last but not least, the mother of it all is Nora Walker (Sally Field). She struggles with the passing of her husband and his secrets hurt her the most.I cannot say enough how proud I am of all the actors and how much they made me feel like I was apart of their family. I wish them the best on their new projects and thank them for being apart of this wonderful show!

Desperate Housewives

NOOOO! What is happening to this world? I cannot believe that this show is being cancelled :'(. This show is one of my all time favorites and many people can relate to it no matter what age or gender. Desperate Housewives is a story centered around four housewives who have very different backgrounds and problems but can always come to each other for support. Gabby Solis (Eva Longoria) is a former model but still believes that she's got what it takes to be a model and has a hard time adjusting to family life and money issues, something she never thought she'd have. Susan Meyer (Teri Hatcher) is a divorced single mother who has a hard time dealing with taking care of a little girl and making herself happy. Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) is the big time business women turned into a stay at home mom with 5 kids and a jealous husband. She has to worry about all of her kids and barely has time for her own problems. Perfect Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross) doesn't want anyone to know that she has family issues and wants to portray her family as being the perfect american family that everyone wants to be apart of. She struggles with keeping her family together and keeping her secrets hidden. Now let's not forget about the woman who started it all Mary Alice Young (Brenda Young). Her suicide at the beginning of the show was hard for her friends but at the same time has brought them together gossiping more than ever! The actors and creators did a fabulous job of portraying almost every type of family that there is and I could always look to this show to know that there were problems worse then mine that could be solved and reminded me that some friendships last forever. Not to forget that the fact they live on Wisteria Lane adds mystery and more fun to the show! Desperate Housewives will be missed when it ends in May 2012 and I am hoping there is a chance that it doesn't.
